The Figgins Brute Family Font: A Bold and Beautiful Choice for Designers

I’ll never forget the design project that led me to discover the Figgins Brute Family Font. I was working on a bold, eye-catching poster for a local event, and I needed a font that would grab attention from a distance. After hours of searching, I stumbled upon this stunning capital titling face with numerals, and I knew I had found the perfect fit.

The Figgins Brute Family Font, erroneously labelled in Figgins specimen book of 1817 as an ‘antique’ or roman, is a true gem in the world of typography. With its very bold, nearly monoline construction and squared serifs as thick as the main stroke, this type surpassed even the fat face style in blackness. It’s no wonder it was popularized by the advent of handbills and early advertising posters, which needed bold type styles to project messages from a distance.
